Gregory Pluta Joins the Illinois MUST-SIM Facility as Operations Manager
The Illinois MUST-SIM Facility is pleased to announce that Gregory Pluta is the site's new Operations Manager effective May 1, 2008. Greg replaces Hussam Mahmoud, who is also staying on, but as a full time PhD candidate. Greg has a strong background in dynamics, controls, electrical and mechanical systems, project management, and information technology. He obtained his B.S. (1992) and M.S. (1995) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the department of Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering during which he helped develop and run the control and dynamics laboratory and conducted experimental graduate work in the area of experimental nonlinear mechanics. Greg has nearly 10 years of experience at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications as a Technical Program Manager and Project Manager in support of Cyberinfrastructure. Greg's most recent experience has been working as a Program Manager in Maryland with the Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) in support of the User Productivity and Technology Transfer (PET) program. He has also worked as an engineer with the Illinois Department of Transportation. The site wishes to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the outgoing Operations Manager Hussam Mahmoud, whose continuing presence at Illinois will help facilitate a smooth transition of responsibilities to Greg.
